According to measurements from both NASA and NOAA, the top 5 warmest years on record have all occurred since 2010. I’m curious about what we as individuals are thinking, feeling,  talking about at this unique moment. The Warmest Years on Record: Questionnaire (2018) is a video project and online questionnaire meant to collect responses from a wide breadth of people across the country. I ask questions detailing people’s experiences of changing weather patterns and local landscapes, the way they navigate the contradictions of participating in the carbon economy, and their hopes and fears for the future. The questions help to build public vocabularies for how to process and contextualize this transition, and spark productive conversations around the complicated and personal experiences of living in climate crisis.
