Monsters and Animals
“I think it is very important to know, in times of very deep sadness, that we can tolerate our feelings. And I think the only way to know that, to have that knowledge, is to experience and to survive very deep sadness. Which can feel like your body is being dragged through the earth. Which is like something so strong is forcing your body to break apart rock and burrow itself into the Earth’s core. But of course this is not happening. Sadness does not happen this way. Sadness just makes you feel sad, even though it feels like you are swimming through lava. It’s really just making you feel.”
Monsters and Animals (10 min, 2015) is a surreal short film that follows Alice through her day as she navigates various human and monster interactions.
